Open Day

The Department of Art and Musicology took part in this year's Open Day on 04.04.2024 for the first time since the merger of the two departments. Student employees presented the two fields of the  studies Musicology and Art History and gave the numerous prospective students lots of practical tips and insights. Prof. Dr. Cornelia Logemann (Art History) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saskia Jaszoltowski (Musicology) gave a joint lecture entitled "Seeing - Hearing - Understanding" to explain the course content. We look forward to welcoming many of the visitors as first-semester students in the coming academic year.

Saskia Jaszoltowski will take part in the conference "Gendering Music Matter. Power, Affects, and Infrastructures of Music Industries" with a lecture on "Hip Hop's Memory Culture on Camera - an Analysis of Gendered Narratives in Recent Documentaries".

Book Presentation "The Management of Opera"

The book offers for the first time an in-depth look into the mechanisms that governed opera production in Eastern Adriatic theatres during the late Habsburg era, against the backdrop of a lively cultural mix resulting from the coexistence of Austrian, Italian and Croatian elements.
